Type Locality and Naming

By the predominance of sandstones and siltstone (aleurolites). Pitnyak uplift. I.M.Abdurazimov in 1996.

Synonym:


Lithology and Thickness

Sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), dark gray clays with layers of polymictic conglomerates. Thickness 50-200 m.


Lithology Pattern: 
Fine-grained sandstone


Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies conformably on the Borehole Conglomerate-sandstone Fm

Upper contact

It is overlain with erosion by the Sultanbobin Fm. Schematic stratigraphic column indicates Chimbay Fm

Regional extent

Pitnyak uplift, Northwest Kyzylkumy, Khorezm depression. Boreholes.

Conditionally belongs to the Aptian stage lower+middle(?) Used in the legend of the Pre-Aral subseries to geological maps of the m-ba 1: 200000,1998. Put as base Hauterivian as TEMP for Schematic Stratigraphic column graphics -- BUT "lower+middle Aptian" => coeval with Cimbay-Khodzeilin Fm !
